This is a brilliant idea:
“After the polls close on Tuesday, please make plans to return to your voting place to attend your party's precinct caucus meeting. An important part of that caucus meeting will be to present resolutions on matters of importance to you which you wish for your Party to take a position.
I have copied below and attached a resolution related to Education policy and the Federal government's "No Child Left Behind" program. This is a bi-partisan issue which is of concern to both political parties. If you agree with the resolution, please modify it to meet your particular Party and District, and take it to your precinct caucus meeting for passage to your State Convention. For my friends out of Texas, if a similar resolution can be used in your state, please feel free to copy any wording.” RESOLUTION BELOW THE FOLD... RESOLUTION TO DO AWAY WITH "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND"
WHEREAS children are unique beings who learn and grow independently in different ways with different strengths and learning styles, and
WHEREAS the one-size-fits all approach to education which has been adopted and mandated in narrowed curriculum does not recognize the individual talents, abilities, and learning styles of all children, and
WHEREAS high-stakes, standardized testing does not enhance classroom education and in fact hinders education by forcing instructors to "teach to the test", and
WHEREAS education should not be an issue of the Federal government but of the State governments and indeed should be left at the local school board level as much as possible, and
WHEREAS "No Child Left Behind", a federal intrusion into education, has not produced the results it promised to increase academic performance and college readiness, but rather has exacerbated the problem by forcing good instruction out of the classroom and in fact IS leaving children behind,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Republican Party of Texas strongly encourages that the Federal government abandon the "No Child Left Behind" program and return oversight of education policies to the states where they belong.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that for the sake of Texas children, the Texas Legislature be encouraged to withdraw Texas from the "No Child Left Behind" program and take back the oversight of education policies which rightfully belongs at the state level.
Be it further resolved that this resolution be sent to the __________ Senatorial/County Republican Convention and be presented for passage on to the Texas State Republican Convention.
