Homeschool plans for next year

Pub Date:2008-03-12 00:00:00 Author: Click:20 Category: paper folding

I'll be hosting the 142nd Carnival of Homeschooling next week here, so if you have a post that you'd like to submit, please do so here.

This has been a bit of a rough year for us homeschooling ... none of us have been "into it." My daughter is actually considering going to public high school next year and so we are making the rounds gathering information on this option. I know we'll only be able to make the best decision if we get all of the information and then sit down and talk about everything.

I'm starting to round curriculum up for my son for next year. I have most of it here, I think. For 7th grade, he is scheduled for the following:

Easy Grammar Plus, Wordly Wise (vocab), Five Finger Paragraph and Igniting Your Writing

Math - I'll probably go back to Saxon and will have to give him a placement test to see where he's at

Logic books by the Bluedorns

Noeo Science - Physics and Christian Kids Explore Physics

All American History, Vol 1 and Drive Through History videos when we need a break from regular studies!

handwriting and keyboarding practice - he is very slow when writing and can't write cursive yet; I have several software games CD's to get his keyboarding skills up to par

Bible - we'll read through How to Get Into The Bible and he'll read Created for Work for "life skills" studies

I believe that's all I have thought of so far ... this covers the basics plus a little extra. Ian is still not up to grade level on math so that is really of utmost importance considering pre-algebra is next! I sure hope he has his "lightbulb" moment soon w/regards to math!

If you have a child entering 7th grade, I'd love to hear what you have planned. Or, if your child is in 7th grade right now, please share what classes you covered ... I love to hear what everyone else is using!
