Moon rising through shadow

Mauna Kea in Hawai'i is one of the premier places for observing the sky. The CFH (Canada-France-Hawaii) telescope is there, and so are Gemini North, Keck I and II and Subaru... But it doesn't take a giant telescope to get pictures of the moon like these. At dusk Mauna Kea's shadow is thrown across the ocean right up into the sky. When the moon is full, it rises through that shadow, and sometimes it rises already eclipsed. Here are two beauties from APOD (Astronomy Picture of the Day):
